The High Energy “HE” ignition devices, or by capacitive discharge, exploit the particular features of a power amplifier circuit equipped with capacitors, capable of generating intermittent sparks with an energy of several Joules per second.
The regular spark generation by these devices is not affected by the presence of dirt, unburnt or humidity on the electrodes. This is due to the presence of a semiconductor sealing element interposed between the electrodes of the igniter inserted into the burner.
High Energy ignition devices are the most suitable solution to ignite low-flammable fuels, even liquid fuels.
Given their high power, they can often replace the use of pilot torches and directly ignite the main burners.

TESI ignition modules are primarily intended for installation in electrical panels to ignite ground and elevated flares.
They are specifically designed to provide a good spark at very long distances, with a power supply cable up to 500 m long.
The housing is filled with resin, in order to ensure waterproof performance under all conditions, which is particularly important in outdoor applications.
The positioning of the flares typically requires the ignition units power supply to be installed far from the ignition rod. This often makes it difficult to generate a powerful spark, because of the lenght of the power supply cable.
Since flares systems are responsible for the disposal of process gas in refineries and petrochemical plants, they need to be fitted with an extremely reliable ignition system that ensures instant flare ignition on demand.

High Voltage ignition devices “HV” represent the cheapest ignition system available, thanks to its simple construction. They take advantage of the high voltage output from a transformer, generally 6000 / 8000 V, to generate in air an electric arc at low power, about 150 / 300 W. The igniter that generates the spark is often a simple spark plug mounted inside the burners, i.e. a ceramic insulated electrode.

These simple systems are indicated to ignite mainly gas fuels, they do not fit to high thermal stresses and do not tolerate the presence of humidity and unburnt substances between the electrode terminals. Therefore they are not suitable to ignite liquid and low-flammable fuels.
